2010 Vietnam Cambodia trip - Day 11, Phnom Penh
had a nice & relaxing breakfast by e poolside b4 starting our day~~
hired a tuk tuk @ US$12 for e day to bring us to S-21 museum & e killing fields~~
tuol sleng genocide museum (or S-21), a former high sch which was turned into a prison & interrogation centre during e khmer rouge regime.
e graves of e victims...
there r 4 buildings in all wif each room being converted to prisoner cells or torturing chambers... it's so depressing to see & read abt everything dat i dun really wanna write abt it.
e killing fields~~ e site where e victims were killed & buried after being tortured at S-21.

jus a brief history of how all these came abt, e khmer rouge came into power from 1975 to 1979 after they won e civil war. e party led by pol pot, aimed to create a communist society . hence anyone suspected to be a capitalist, including e professionals, intellectuals, almost everyone wif an education were killed. 1/5 of e cambodia's population perished during this regime. today e leaders of khmer rouge r still awaiting trials for crimes against humanity.

after lunch, we returned to our hotel for our pick up to siem reap. i had arranged for a hotel transfer from our siem reap hotel to pick us up in phnom penh @ 3pm. e bus ride from phnom penh to siem reap is abt 6 hrs & cost US$11 per pax. i've checked e price of e local buses & they cost abt e same as my hotel pick up, hence of course i'll go wif e hotel since it's a door to door service.
