2010 Vietnam Cambodia trip - Day 10, Phnom Penh (cambodia)
after saying gdbye to vietnam, it's our first day in cambodia! checked in at our hotel, the billabong, ard noon. we were quite looking fwd to it as it's e first accom wif a pool (n i had gotten us a pool view room!) after so many days in vietnam staying in budget hotels. a pool view room wif breakfast cost US$19.50 per pax per nite (US$39 per room). hotel has quite gd rating on trip advisor, as i was looking for something near to a resort style, so dat we can do some R&R, i decided to go for it. it's located within 5 mins walk from e biggest shopping mall in phnom penh, n 10 mins from e central mkt. cons will be it's quite far from e river (where e nite life is).
room was quite small, but nicely furnished~~

there r no cabs in cambodia, hence u either take a tuk tuk or hire a private car to drive u ard~~ a ride within town (eg. from hotel to royal palace) will cost US$2. e tuk tuk here is much bigger than those in bangkok, e biggest diff is they've 4 wheels instead of 3.
visited royal palace (entrance fee: US$6 per pax)~~ do rem to wear clothes dat cover ur shoulders n knees as it's a requirement. e royal palace is e resident of e king of cambodia, wif lotsa famous khmer architectures like the silver pagoda, temple of the emerald buddha, etc. built inside.

a miniture of e famous angkor wat~~
e riverside~~ i tink it's really cool to decorate it wif all e flags of e diff countries. kian & i were playing e game of who can name e countries of e flags.

our dinner wif randomly ordered food at e stalls~~
this is a cooked duck egg, wif e little duck alr half grown~~ it's a famous local delight in cambodia, u r supposed to crack e top part of e shell & drink e 'soup' inside, but as first-timer, we did not noe it n ended up wif e 'soup' bursting out all over after we cracked e egg. it looked quite gross here, wif e duckling's head, feathers, etc. luckily it was really dark when we were eating,
