after a 1.5hrs coach ride from katoomba, we finally arrived at the jenolan caves~~
the blue lake~~
there r 11 discovered caves here, & we went into e nettle cave (which is above ground) & orient cave (which is underground).




e formations, which are a result of interactions btw water, limstone, gravity & time r really beautiful! there r countless of wondrous shapes, some on e walls or floor, others hanging from e roof.

this is one example where e stalactite & stalagmite hav not joined yet. when dissolved limestone is deposited as crystals onto e ceiling by water dripping into e cave, a stalactite is formed. similarly, those on e floor will grow to become stalagmite. the process will eventually resulted in e formation of a column.
e grand column~~ formed by e ultimate joining of a stalactite & stalagmite! it's really impressive!
they named this structure e 12 postles!
