Rome, Italy
capital of Italy, oso known as the Eternal City. it's really an ancient place as there's lotsa ruins everywhere we go... but gg there provides an eye-opener for all of us as we get to see some of the world's most famous places of interest... learning abt it's rich history is really interesting too~~ both kian & I like Rome~~

the Colosseum, one of the seven wonders of the world. largest amphitheatre ever built in the Roman Empire, capable of seating 50,000 spectators. it was used for gladiatorial combat as well as public spectacles such as mock sea battles, animal hunts, executions, re-enactments of famous battles and dramas based on Classical mythology.

can be considered as one of the more expensive places of interest as it costs S$22 to jus go in & see these ruins! even Vatican city is cheaper as they've student price~~

Palatine Hill, centermost of the 7 hills of rome, believed to be the founding place of rome.

Vatican city~~ highlight of the trip as we queued for 2hrs in the rain!!! i noe rome was supposed to be hot, but it was raining when we r there, so it was freezing cold~~

ok, as to y the vatican city is so famous dat there r such looonnngggg queues day in day out, here r some facts:

1) it is a landlocked sovereign city-state whose territory consists of a walled enclave within the city of Rome & at approximately 44 hectares, it is the smallest independent nation in the world

2) it's a non-hereditary, elected monarchy that is ruled by the Bishop of Rome — the Pope, & he is the only absolute monarch in Europe

3) said to be the governmental capital of the Catholic Church

4) has the distinction of having the smallest and oldest regular army in the world, the Swiss Guard

5) has its own post office, fire brigade, police services, supermarket, bank, railway station, electricity generating plant, publishing house & also controls its own Internet domain

last but not least, it houses the Sistine Chapel wif the 9 famous ceiling paintings by Michelangelo from 1508 to 1512, showing God's Creation of the World, God's relationship with Mankind and Mankind's fall from God's Grace. both kian & I r not christians, so we dun really noe much abt all the stories & stuffs, but the paintings r really beautiful & some of the more well known ones include Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden & The Last Judgement.

Trevi Fountain, representing the source of water for rome. anybody who watch the HK serial chong shang yun xiao would recognised this fountain from the show. it's believed dat if u throw a coin wif ur right hand over ur left shoulder into the fountain & make a wish, it'll come true. there's oso many other versions such as u'll return to rome again, u'll meet an italian lover, etc...

Roman Forum, central area around which ancient Rome developed, in which commerce and the administration of justice took place. Caesar was assassinated right here...

Gelatine~~ the most delicious icecream in the world wif 100 flavours!!! haha~~ i ate everyday & everywhere~~ yum yum~~
