along the banks of the river, we saw lotsa padlocks locked to the railings. it's believed dat by writing ur names onto the padlock & locking it to the railings, lovers will become eternally bonded togth after u throw the key into the river. 
Duomo Cathedral, a distinctive feature of florence's skyline, reknown for it's unique colouring, architecture and size with a history of over 6 centuries. 
David, one of Michelangelo's two greatest works of sculpture. The 5.17 meter marble statue portrays the Biblical King David at the moment that he decides to do battle with Goliath. 
It is said that of the 1,000 most important European artists of the 2nd millennium, 350 lived or worked in Florence. Among them r Michelangelo (famous for his sculpture of David & the painting of the Sistine Chapel) & Leonardo da Vinci (famous for his Mona Lisa).
it's here dat i learnt dat Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is actually named after the 4 famous artists, Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello & Michelangelo~~ apparently it's a quite well known fact, jus dat i'm not into cartoons, so i din noe... haha~~

the oni way to get ard florence is on foot as traffic is very restricted. thus we were taken for a walking tour to see the city.
Ponte Vecchio (Italian for Old Bridge) is Europe's oldest wholly-stone, closed-spandrel segmental arch bridge. when it was first built in Roman times, it was originally made of wood. after being destroyed by a flood, it was rebuilt in stone. the bridge consists of three segmental arches which hosted shops & merchants displaying their goods on tables. It is said that the economic concept of bankruptcy originated here: when a merchant could not pay his debts, the table on which he sold his wares was physically broken by soldiers, and this practice was called "bancorotto" (broken table). Not having a table anymore, the merchant was not able to sell anything.
