After so many days, finally had time to give a proper account of my trip to bangkok… This is my 2nd trip overseas (not counting those to Malaysia of course) wif kian, but this time round it’s a bigger crowd, including jinfen, shannon, munkeet, kaijie and their frens…
Day1
Arrived at the airport in the evening, took a cab to First Hotel, which is located at pratunam. Was quite disappointed dat they cant give us adjoining rooms, said dat the hotel is fully booked, but kian thought they r jus lazy to change for us. Made me quite uneasy, as it was the 7th month & I sort of will prefer more ppl ard me (I’m quite timid mah…) rather than 2 person alone in a room. I even consider the option of everyone sleeping togth in a room lor! Bleah! Anyway, will highly recommend our hotel to everyone who wanna go to Bangkok as it was really cheap & gd! Everything is very new & clean & the room is very big too. Their single bed looks like a queen size bed lor! So I think 4 person can jus take a 2 person room n sleep confortably.
Went to walk the pratunam night market after we settle down & had our dinner at a roadside wontan noodle stall. Jinfen was so excited dat she started her shopping spree immediately, getting tops & accessories at top speed! Haha… I jus bought 2 pairs of earrings, 2 pairs of clips, 1 slippers, 1 dress & 1 shorts. Total damaged oni 400baht & dat’s oni S$16.80!
Day2
4 stupid ppl actually agreed to meet at 8am (dat’s Singapore time 7am oni!) to conquer pratunum, oni to discover when we walked out onto the streets dat nobody open shops sooooooo early!!! Bishx! *faints* we practically walk along empty streets for 2 hrs b4 there’s life ard us! Haha… we even visited the 5 star Armani Watergates Hotel to use its toilet (equivalent to our paragon lor! But rates oso equivalent ooh).
Spent the whole day walking the pratunam mkt, baiyoke mkt & part of platinum (which is a newly opened shopping mall wif 1300 shops! U can get really cheap stuffs while shopping in aircon! *jinfen’s fav shopping mall in the whole of Bangkok*) I bought 5 earrings, 4 necklaces, 5 tops, 2 shoes plus 1 whole suit of formal wear (blazar + skirt) for oni 1300baht! At first we wanted to go to sukhumvit to tailor our blazar, but after discovering dat the readily made ones r oni selling for S$18.90, of course we go for the latter! Went to suan lum at nite for our dinner plus walk walk (y I said walk but not shop coz the things there r much more ex though similar… we smart one k!)… there’s lotsa pubs there, but we din went in lah.
Day3
The famous Chatuchak weekend mkt… we buy until we r too tired to walk (& kian carry until he couldn’t carry lor!) Haha… but the killer wasn’t this mkt, but one street along MBK dat we went at nite. Jinfen, Shannon & I EACH spent 1000baht jus on dat ONE STREET & dat’s a total of 3000baht!!! *faints* had a really gd dinner at a classy seafood restaurant at MBK as we r really tired & wanted to reward ourselves wif a gd meal. Think everyone lose weigh these few days lor, coz we often shop from morning to nite without realizing it & thus skipping lunch everyday. Munkeet & kaijie they all say we crazy one, coz they’ve been eating sharks fins & bird nest & playing mahjiong (in baht) in their hotel at leisure while we wore ourselves out. Haha… but women go Bangkok to do wat? SHOP!!! (jinfen nearly faint upon seeing them playing mj in hotel) haha… jus dat poor kian… hav to follow us ard, hey but he shops wif us too! He often more excited than us lor! total damaged for the day was 2186baht, including 11tops, 1 dress, 5 shoes, 3 belts, 5bags, 3earrings & 2 shorts.
Day4
We decide to go back to the platinum shopping mall, which is oni within walking dist from our hotel (actually everywhere is within walking dist from our hotel coz it’s so accessible) as we oni shopped one level of it the last time. Bought 12 earrings, 13 tops, 2 formal shirts & 1 shoes wif 1619 baht. Went for massage after all our shopping plus movie at MBK at nite… watch The Breakup, which is not shown in spore yet. The price of a wkend show was jus S$5 lor! Cheap cheap! Decide to go for some entertainment after all the shops closes, was choosing btw arcade or movie…
Day5
Brought everyone to yaowarat (Chinatown) to shop for cheap wholesale stuffs. As everyone hav nv been to Chinatown b4, it was quite interesting to see everything selling wholesale in dozens. U wan to buy a pair of shoes oso cannot lor, they wont sell u unless u buy 12pairs of the same design same colour same size! Wholesale mah… but the 3 Bangkok well trained shopping queens still manage to spent ALL their $$ there buying stuffs until we dun even hav $$ left to eat. Everyone end up having to exchange $$ again, including kian! Haha… end up eating cup noodles at the 7eleven. I actually think it’s quite fun leh! Sort of enjoy it…
Day6
Permed my hair at a saloon at MBK for S$50. been wanting to perm my hair for a very long time, of course muz grab this cheap opportunity lah! Jinfen originally wanted to pei me dye her hair one, but she decide dat she’ll rather spend the 2 hrs shopping! Haha… so in the end Shannon pei me at the saloon while fen & kian shop ard siam. This time round kian reap the biggest harvest as he bagged home 14 posters of soccer players.
Jinfen & Shannon was terribly amazed by the fact dat Kian & I actually did our accounts every day, recording wat we bought & how much we spent, counting & tellying right up to every cent. Haha… dat’s y we r accountants mah!
